As of September 2022, the reference lists of more than 60 million scientific publications indexed by Crossref are fully publicly available. This achievement is the result of more than five years of efforts by the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC).
On 25 August 2022, the White House ordered that by the end of 2025, federal agencies must publish all publicly funded publications, including the research data on which they were based, in open access free of charge.
On 20 July 2022, Science Europe published the Agreement on Reforming Research Assesment, created together with the European University Association and dr. Karen Stroobants and supported by the European Commission.
On 10 June 2022, the EU ministers responsible for research adopted three sets of guidelines on international cooperation in the field of research and innovation, on the promotion of open science policies and on the implementation of European missions, which include the reform of research assessment.
