Projekt SPOZNAJ jeseni pričenja z usposabljanjem za podatkovne strokovnjake

The SPOZNAJ project is starting training for data professionals this fall.

The consortium of the SPOZNAJ project will, within the work package 4: Preparation and implementation of specialized training for operating according to the principles of open science, work sub-package 4.3: Implementation of data steward training, conduct training this fall for individuals who will serve as data stewards or related data expert profiles (e.g., data archivists, data librarians, data managers, and data consultants) in their respective organizations. This will be the first such training for data professionals in scientific research activities in Slovenia, modeled after similar training abroad (e.g., Data Steward Postgraduate Course at the University of Vienna, 4TU Essentials 4 Data Support, EOSC Synergy Data Steward Training, etc.). The training will be conducted by personnel employed by consortium partners and selected foreign experts.

The training will take place in three parts, totaling 12 days with 6 academic hours each, on the following dates:

  • 23. 9. – 26. 9. 2024
  • 14. 10. – 17. 10. 2024
  • 18. 11. – 21. 11. 2024

Attendance in person will be possible only for employees of consortium partners due to space limitations, while all other interested parties will be able to participate remotely, where there is no limit on the number of participants. It will also be possible to follow individual lectures remotely. To obtain a certificate of attendance (in person or online), 80% attendance (58 out of a total of 72 academic hours) is required. The program is not certified.

The training program is available here. A more detailed program will be available in September 2024.

Applications for the training are being collected via email at noo.spoznaj@ctk.uni-lj.si. There is no registration fee.

Open University of Primorska: Research data management in accordance with FAIR principles

University of Primorska invites you to the UP University Library (Trubarjeva 1, Koper) on Wednesday, 29. May 2024, at 2:00 p.m., to the lecture Research data management in accordance with FAIR principles. The presenter will be assoc. dr. Ana Slavec. The event will also be broadcast online (Zoom: https://upr-si .zoom.us/j/82113020078, Meeting ID: 821 1302 0078).

The aim of the lecture is to introduce key concepts of data management planning and the resources available to researchers throughout the life cycle of data. They will learn what a research data management plan should contain and the principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability (FAIR), which are key to the responsible sharing of research data with the wider scientific community, which is becoming an increasingly important requirement of research funders.

dr. Ana Slavec is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies at the University of Primorska and a research associate at the InnoRenew CoE. One of her roles is to advise researchers on topics related to open science and the handling of research data. She is a Research Data Alliance (RDA) Ambassador for Engineering/Renewable Materials and an alumna of the RDA/CODATA School of Data Stewardship.

You must register for the event via LINK>>

The event is organized by the University of Primorska as part of the SPOZNAJ project (Support for introducing the principles of open science in Slovenia). It is the first event in the Open UP series - UP lectures on open science. Lectures on open access, copyright management, and citizen science continue in the fall semester.

Project SPOZNAJ is co-financed by the European Union - NextGenerationEU and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation through the national Recovery and Resilience Plans.

Spletni seminar SPOZNAJ: Repozitoriji za raziskovalne podatke

Kam in kako shraniti raziskovalne podatke?

V spletnem predavanju bomo podali kriterije, ki jih morajo izpolnjevati zaupanja vredni repozitorij in primere takšnih repozitorijev. Nato bomo predstavili, kako opisati nabore raziskovalnih podatkov z metapodatki, da bodo ustrezali načelom FAIR.

V praktičnem delu predavanja bomo predstavili kako poteka vstavljanje podatkovnih naborov v repozitorije nacionalne infrastrukture odprtega dostopa, ki jo sestavljajo Repozitorij Univerze v Ljubljani, Digitalna knjižnica Univerze v Mariboru, Repozitorij Univerze na Primorskem, Repozitorij Univerze v Novi Gorici, Digitalni repozitorij raziskovalnih organizacij Slovenije in Repozitorij samostojnih visokošolskih in višješolskih organizacij.

Predavatelja: prof. dr. Milan Ojsteršek (FERI UM) in mag. Janez Brezovnik (FERI UM)

Kdaj: 18. aprila 2024, 10:30-12:00

Spletni seminar »Upravljanje z raziskovalnimi podatki in etika«

Spletni seminar »Upravljanje z raziskovalnimi podatki in etika«

Predavala bosta dr. Milan Ojsteršek in dr. Matjaž Divjak.

Predavatelja bosta v okviru spletnega seminarja predstavila principe upravljanja z raziskovalnimi podatki v kontekstu odprte znanosti in iniciative “FAIR”. Ogledali si bomo življenjski cikel upravljanja z občutljivimi podatki in najpogostejše napake pri delu z njimi. Predstavila bosta tudi kratek pregled ontoloških slovarjev s področja EMG/EEG in praktični primer priprave podatkovne zbirke z metapodatki. Na koncu bo sledil še pregled nekaj odprto dostopnih repozitorijev in primer nalaganja podatkov. Predavanje bo v angleškem jeziku.

Call for registration fees for the 22nd Research Data Alliance Online Meeting

ADP - SOCIAL SCIENCE DATA ARCHIVES in its role as coordinator of the Slovenian RDA Hub, announces a call for registration fee reimbursement for the 22nd Research Data Alliance Online Meeting, which will take place May 14 to 23 2024.

Research Data Alliance (RDA) meetings are held twice a year, usually in a hybrid format in different locations around the world (see previous plenary meeting locations), and occasionally completely virtually. RDA Plenary Meetings are influential, productive events that bring together a unique community of data scientists, librarians, computing experts and researchers from diverse disciplines. They are special working meetings that help the community move forward to produce concrete results that improve data sharing across disciplines, technologies and countries.

The Slovenian RDA Hub was established as a point of contact between the Research Data Alliance and Slovenian stakeholders in the field of open science. As part of our commitment to support the development of the research community and to promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of data, we have decided to reimburse the cost of the registration fee for the 22nd Research Data Alliance web meeting for up to 5 individuals who are involved in data science or research data and wish to actively contribute to the discussions at the meeting. With the theme "Local Action - Global Connection", the meeting will focus on linking local practices to global challenges in research and data use (see draft programme). Participation is open to researchers, data archivists, research infrastructures, libraries and others who would like to exchange knowledge and experiences.

Individuals can apply by writing to arhiv.podatkov@fdv.uni-lj.si by Tuesday, 2 April 2024. Successful applicants will be reimbursed for their registration fee and will be required to prepare a short report and blog post (approx. 500 words) on their experiences, lessons learned and possible implementations for the Slovenian research environment.

The application should include information about your job, a description of your experience with the Research Data Alliance so far (maximum 200 words) and your motivation for attending the plenary (maximum 300 words).
